Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Course Description: This presentation provides an overview of the ambulatory phlebectomy in the treatment of chronic venous disease. The author has extensive experience in this procedure and provides not only his experience and techniques but also notes where others may choose to deviate from the techniques that he has developed over the past 25 years. Areas covered include the initial evaluation of the patient, contra-indications, necessary equipment, anesthesia, techniques for extraction of the veins, post procedure dressings and potential complications. With generous photographs demonstrating all these techniques, this is a unique and highly recommended course on this subject.

This program is intended for physicians, vascular sonographers, nurses, and other allied health professionals.  There was no commercial support for this educational product and the author and planning committee have nothing to disclose pertinent to this presentation. After viewing this video presentation covering this topic, the participant will be directed to take a quiz testing the knowledge gained. Successful completion with a score of 70% or greater allows access to a course evaluation and finally claiming Continuing Medical Education credit for this activity.
